Virginia Tech will open play in the 11th annual Charleston Classic against Ball State on Thursday, Nov. 15 in the TD Arena on the campus of the College of Charleston. The game will tip at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPN 2.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Hokies finished the 2017-18 season 21-12 overall and 10-8 in ACC action. Tech earned a second-consecutive NCAA Tournament at-large bid. Ball State was 19-13 overall last season and 10-8 in the Mid-American Conference.
The Hokies will play either Alabama or Northeastern on Friday in their second game of the tournament. The other side of the eight team bracket consists of Purdue, Appalachian State, Wichita State and Davidson. The final day of competition will be Sunday, Nov. 18.
All games in the tournament will be shown live on one of the ESPN family of networks. The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days. The teams compete once per day, regardless of results. The two unbeaten teams will face off in a championship game at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.
All-tournament tickets for the Charleston Classic go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 13. Fans can purchase a discounted early bird Baseline/Upper level ticket for $100 (regularly $115) or Premium Sideline general admission seat for $125 (regularly $135) through August 10. College of Charleston season ticket holders can purchase Baseline/Upper general admission all-session tickets for $80 or Premium Sideline general admission tickets for $95. The number of Premium Sideline tickets will be very limited.
