Hokies set to host No. 12 Florida State, No. 43 Miami

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team begins a five match home stand on Friday, April 6 when the Hokies host No. 12 Florida State at 2:30 p.m. Tech will follow with hosting No. 43 Miami on Sunday in a noon match.

THE HOKIES (12-6, 3-5 ACC)
Virginia Tech is coming off a pair of ACC road wins last weekend, defeating both Georgia Tech and Clemson 4-3. Against the Yellow Jackets the two teams were tied at 3-3 before Jason Kros secured the win in a hard-fought match on court two, defeating Phillip Gresk 7-6(9), 6-7(5), 6-4. The match was close against the Tigers as well with the Hokies leading 3-2 when Alex Ribeiro won on three over Sam Edwards 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.

Tech's Mitch Harper enters the weekend ranked 39th, moving up 14 spots after defeating a pair of ranked opponents last weekend. The Hokies' junior is 9-5 this spring at the one. Ribeiro is adding a 13-4 mark while freshman Carlo Donato is 12-4.

THE SEMINOLES (22-1, 6-0 ACC)
Florida State defeated No. 38 Louisville 6-1 the last time out. The Seminoles won the doubles point and picked up points in singles off Aziz Dougaz, Lucas Poullain, Alex Knaff, Chase Wood and Rana Roop Bhullar.

FSU is led in the standings by 18th-ranked Guy Iradukunda who is 14-2 on the spring. Poullain is 32nd and has tallied a 17-1 tally including 11-1 at the three in duals. Dougaz rounds out the rankings, entering the weekend ranked 51st with a 15-2 mark. The Seminoles also have a pair of doubles teams in the rankings with No. 22 Iradukunda/Knaff and No. 33 Jose Gracia/Poullain.

THE HURRICANES (11-7, 2-4 ACC)
Miami picked up a 4-1 win over No. 38 Louisville the last time out. The Hurricanes won the doubles point and secured the match in singles win wins from Dane Dunlap, Bojan Jankulovski and Niclas Genovese.

Adria Soriano Barrera enters the weekend ranked 68th with a 12-2 record, including 9-2 on court two. Christian Langmo is 107th with a 10-3 tally on court one. Jankulovski is adding a 14-4 record and is 9-3 at the three. Barrera and Langmo are also ranked in doubles at 26th.
