GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech men's tennis' Mitch Harper and Carlo Donato have been named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week as announced Tuesday by the league office.
Donato, a freshman from Pisa, Italy, and Harper, a junior from Brisbane, Australia, helped Virginia Tech to wins over No. 41 Louisville (4-2) and No. 43 Virginia (4-3). The Hokie duo took down 32nd-ranked Aswin Lizen and Gianni Ross of Virginia (7-5), and Louisville's pair of George Hedley and Fredrik Moe (6-4). The win over Lizen and Ross clinched the doubles point for Virginia Tech, helping the Hokies earn the win and stop a 15-year skid against the Cavaliers.
This marks the second time this season the duo has earned weeky honors. Harper also earned Player of the Week recognition previously.
The Hokies enter this week's ACC Championship as the fifth-seed and will face the winner of Georgia Tech/Boston College on Thursday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. The event is being held at the Cary Tennis Complex.
