No. 40 Hokies to host VCU

BLACKSBURG – The 40th-ranked Virginia Tech men's tennis team is set to host VCU in a non-conference match on Sunday at noon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

THE HOKIES (14-6, 5-5 ACC)
Virginia Tech is coming off a big weekend in which the Hokies upset No. 12 Florida State 4-3 before sweeping No. 43 Miami 7-0 last weekend. Mitch Harper, ranked No. 42 in the ITA standings, was named the ACC player of the week after clinching the winning point against the Seminoles. He, along with Carlo Donato, earned ACC doubles team of the week with the two winning doubles in both matches including a victory over FSU's 33rd-ranked pair.

Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro enter the doubles standings at 52nd. They are joined by Harper and Donato at No. 82. Harper has posted an 11-5 tally at the one this season Donato is adding a 14-4 mark while Ribeiro is 14-5.

THE RAMS (13-8, 4-0 A10)
VCU is coming off a 4-0 win over George Mason on Friday. The Rams won the doubles point and picked upsingles points from Vitor Lima, Javier Amantegui and Ignacio Rivero Crespo.

Inigo Torre Martin has a 13-3 record on the spring, including 6-0 at the four. Arvid Noren is adding 10-4 tally while Amantegui is 9-10.

UP NEXT: The Hokies will wrap up the regular season next weekend at home. Tech will host Louisville at 11 a.m. on Friday April 20 before the finale against in-state rival Virginia on Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
