Hokies finish fourth at Brickyard Collegiate

The Virginia Tech women's golf team closed out the regular season with a fourth place finish at the Brickyard Collegiate, presented by Mizuno on Tuesday afternoon. The three-day tournament was played at the par 72, 6,155-yard Brickyard Golf Course in Macon, Georgia.

Tech opened play on Sunday with a 302 and followed that on Monday with a 295. The Hokies finished with a 298, the tournament's third best round on Tuesday. Individually, all five Hokies finished in the top 30 in the 78 player event.

Elizabeth Bose, a junior from Norfolk, Virginia, tied for seventh individually with a three-round total of 222. She finished nine strokes behind medalist Morgan Baxendale of Vanderbilt.

Amanda Hollandsworth, a junior from Floyd, Virginia, tied for 14th individually with a three-round total of 224 and Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, tied for 17th at 225. Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, tied for 25th at 227 and Allison Woodward, a redshirt junior from Unicoi, Tennessee, tied for 29th at 228.

Vanderbilt led all three rounds and captured the team title. The Commodores posted a 5-over 869, 10 strokes ahead of runner-up ODU. Kennesaw State was third at 894, one stroke ahead of the Hokies. Host Mercer was fifth at 906, Troy was sixth at 913, Chattanooga was seventh at 916, Marshall was eighth at 917 and ETSU was ninth at 926. North Florida was 10th at 928, LSU was 11th at 932, Jacksonville was 12th at 935, Southern Mississippi was 13th at 937 and Samford was 14th at 944.

The Hokies will begin post-season play next weekend, as they compete in the 2018 ACC Women's Golf Championship. The three-day tournament will be played April 21-23 at the par 72, 6,122-yard East Course at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
