The Virginia Tech women's golf team has a two-round total of 17-over 593 and is in fourth place entering the final round at the Hurricane Invitational. The three-day event is being played at the par 72, 6,150-yard Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida.
Tech posted a 295 in Monday's first round and had a 298 in Tuesday's second round.
Elizabeth Bose leads the Hokies at 4-under 140. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia shot a 71 on Monday and followed that with a 3-under 69 on Tuesday. She trails leader Renate Grimstad of Miami by one stroke. Bose had four birdies and just one bogey in her second round.
Sarah Spicer, a redshirt freshman from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 28th place with a 6-over 150 and Amanda Hollandsworth, a redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, is tied for 41st at 153. Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, playing in her first collegiate event and Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, are tied for 44th at 154.
Host Miami leads the event with a 2-under 574, three strokes ahead of first round leader Oklahoma. Coastal Carolina is third at 480, Maryland is fourth at 591, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Mercer is sixth at 603, Barry is seventh at 604, Kentucky is eighth at 605 and Florida International is ninth at 606. Penn State is 10th at 607, South Florida is 11th at 609, Middle Tennessee is 12th at 617 and South Dakota State is 13th at 620.
