Tech, Indiana set sights on WNIT crown Saturday afternoon

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech heads to Bloomington, Indiana for the Championship Game of the WNIT to take place on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. from Assembly Hall on the campus of Indiana University.

The Hokies advanced their way to the Championship Game on Wednesday, defeating West Virginia 64-61 in Morgantown. Taylor Emery hit the go-ahead basket with 22 seconds to play and Aisha Sheppard added a late free throw to as Tech continued its postseason run.

The 2017-18 season is the first time in program history that the Hokies will have the opportunity to compete for the WNIT title, after advancing past Navy, George Mason, Fordham, Alabama and the Mountaineers.

For the tournament, all five Hokie starters are averaging in double figures, led by Emery's 19.2 points per game. Regan Magarity, who recorded her 15th double-double of the season against West Virginia is tallying 14.2 points and pulling down 9.6 rebounds per contest.

The Series – Indiana won the only other meeting between these two teams in 2013, as a part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers won 71-65 in front of 2,210 fans in Assembly Hall.
