BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech (7-3, 2-0) fell behind early, but regrouped and relied on excellent performances in the attack by Emma Harden and Julia Bolte to defeat Delaware 17-10 Sunday afternoon. The win is Tech's third in succession and sixth in seven tries in Blacksburg in 2018.
"Delaware is a talented team and we knew that coming in, so I'm proud of how we regrouped after that first stretch and found a way to win today," said head coach John Sung.
Tech trailed 3-0 at the 20:47 mark, following Mia DeRuggierio's goal.
The Hokies responded with a 3-0 run of their own, with goals coming from Paige Petty and Tristan McGinley.
"We won the draw control battle today which was huge. Tristan McGinley did a great job with that today winning 13 and setting up our offense," Sung said.
