Mark Lawrence Jr. finishes fourth at State Open

Hokie golfer Mark Lawrence Jr., posted a three-round total of 6-under 210 and finished in fourth place at the 2017 Delta Dental State Open of Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The three-round tournament was played at the par 72, 6,946-yard Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke, Virginia.

Lawrence, a rising junior from Richmond, Virginia, carded his third consecutive 2-under 70 at the state championship. He finished four strokes behind titlist Ryan Zylstra. He was one stroke behind low amateurs Ji Soo Park and Michael Brennan.

Teammate Logan Yates, a rising junior from Ruckersville, Virginia, finished two strokes behind Lawrence in fifth place. Tech golfer Ian Hildebrand, a rising senior from Purcellville, Virginia was tied for 13th at 219 and Tom Crow, a rising sophomore from Virginia Beach, Virginia, tied for 29th at 225.
