Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech track and field and cross country director Dave Cianelli announced Thursday that Kennedy Dennis (Greenville, South Carolina) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Hokies for the 2017-18 season.
“Kennedy is a five-time state champion from South Carolina,” said sprints, hurdles and relays coach Tim Vaught. “She has a strong desire to be the best. I feel like she will make an instant impact to our program. It’s going to be fun working with her.”
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Dennis competes for Berea High under coach Stephen Redmond, where she was crowned a five-time state champion in three different events. Dennis holds two state titles in the 100, two in the 200 and one in the 400. She also ran the 100-meter dash at the 2016 New Balance Nationals, earning All-America honors. Dennis owns personal bests of 7.63 (60m), 11.77 (100m) and 24.33 (200m) throughout her lifetime.
“I chose Virginia Tech because of the welcoming and genuine spirits from the track team as well as their exceptional program,” Dennis said. “It is an honor to be accepted into the Hokie family.”
The Hokies will open their 2017 indoor season at home with the Virginia Tech Invitational from Jan. 13-14, held at the Rector Fieldhouse, in Blacksburg.
