BLACKSBURG- The No. 15 Virginia Tech men’s soccer team (9-2-2) tied Wright State 1-1 Tuesday night. The match extended into two overtime periods but neither team could find that second goal.
The Hokies controlled the possession during the start of the game as the Raiders lead a push late in the half. Both teams got shots off but nothing connected leaving the game scoreless at halftime.
The second half started the same way the first ended until Wright State’s Kaique Fernandes scored in the 64th minute off a corner kick that got sent into the box. Brendan Moyers quickly responded with the equalizer in the 68th minute for his first collegiate goal. The remaining minutes consisted of a defensive battle with no additional scores.
Both overtime periods continued to be the defensive battle seen in the first half. Both sides saw chances but had trouble finishing leaving the score tied 1-1 through 110 minutes.
Tech travels to Syracuse Friday for an ACC matchup. The match is set for 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.
