BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced Thursday that the Athletics Ticket Office has begun accepting season ticket renewals for the upcoming 2016 season.
The renewal process applies for 2015 season ticket holders and Hokie Club members (as of Dec. 31, 2015) only. Individuals who renew early during an exclusive two-week window starting today through Feb. 18 will receive a $25 per ticket loyalty rebate on their $350 season ticket purchase. This rebate will be issued at the conclusion of the two-week window.
Beginning Feb. 19, all 2015 season ticket holders and Hokie Club members have until March 14 to renew their tickets at the $350 price.
All 2015 season ticket holders and Hokie Club members can choose one of three ways to renew their season tickets:
• All have been mailed a ticket catalog and paper application and can simply mail back the application.
• Those who have a registered email address with the ticket office will receive an email today and can renew by clicking the link in the email and going directly to their online account.
• Those who wish can call the Athletics Ticket Office at either of these two numbers – 1-800 VA TECH4 or 540-231-6731 – and talk to their personal account executive.
Season ticket holders receive the best pricing over those purchasing individual game tickets (if available) and will receive first priority when it comes to away game and bowl game tickets. They also have the option to purchase single-game tickets (if available) prior to the general public.
Longtime season ticket holders also will be in the running for the “Season Ticket Holder of the Game” in which Tech athletics honors some of its longest-standing season ticket holders with a commemorative football and a dinner at the Inn at Virginia Tech. In addition, season ticket holders will be able to take part in certain exclusive events throughout the season.
If season tickets are available after the renewal process, they will be made available to the public at some point in April.
The 2016 season marks the first for new football head coach Justin Fuente, who was hired to take over the Hokies’ program after Frank Beamer retired at the conclusion of this past season. Behind an explosive offense and opportunistic defense, Fuente and his staff rebuilt the Memphis program, lifting the Tigers to 19 wins and two bowl appearances in the past two seasons.
The Hokies wrapped up their 23rd consecutive winning season by beating Tulsa in the Independence Bowl, which marked the program’s 23rd straight bowl appearance – the longest active streak recognized by the NCAA. Tech returns eight starters on offense and seven on defense from those who started in the bowl game.
The Hokies’ 2016 football schedule includes home games against Liberty (Sept. 3) and East Carolina (Sept. 24), along with home games against the following conference foes – Boston College (Sept. 17), Miami (Oct. 20), Georgia Tech (Nov. 12) and in-state rival Virginia (Nov. 26). The Tech-Miami game will mark the Hokies’ 17th Thursday night game at Lane Stadium since ESPN started broadcasting such games.
