BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech spirit squads will play host to an exhibition performance at Cassell Coliseum today at 7:30 p.m. before competing for the NCA/NDA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., on April 9-11.
The NCA/NDA National Championships will take place on April 9-11 at the Daytona Beach Convention Center and Band Shell. The championships are made up of seven dance divisions and 10 cheer divisions. The divisions separate teams by designation of all-girl or co-ed, skill level, university enrollment (Division I, IA, or II), junior college, or international. Tech is one of six Division IA cheer squads and 11 Division IA dance squads competing next weekend. Championship winners are also awarded for partner stunts, group stunts and mascot at Stunt Fest Mania on Saturday.
The preliminary competitions at the event will begin on April 9, with the HighTechs performing at 10:54 a.m., and the cheer squad competing at 3:52 p.m. Finals for both squads will be held April 10. The dance finals are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., while the cheer finals are set for 1:30 p.m.
