BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech announces its 2014-15 women’s basketball schedule. Nineteen home games, including contests against Notre Dame, Virginia, Syracuse, ACC newcomer Louisville and Northwestern as part of the ACC/BigTen Challenge highlight this season’s schedule.

“Obviously we play in the best women’s basketball league in the country,” said head coach Dennis Wolff. “With the improvement of all the teams across board, the competition this year will be the best it’s ever been.”

The Hokies’ slate includes contests against nine teams that made the NCAA Tournament last year with home games against Syracuse, Florida State, Elite 8 teams North Carolina and Louisville as well as tournament runner-up Notre Dame. Tech will also face WNIT participants Miami, Northwestern and Old Dominion in Cassell. On the road, the Hokies will clash with tournament teams NC State, Duke, Georgia Tech and Florida.

Virginia Tech will also be featured in three broadcast games. The Hokies will play on RSN/Fox when Wake Forest comes to town on Jan. 23 before turning around and hosting Notre Dame the following game on ESPN3 on Jan. 29. Tech will wrap up its TV slate hosting North Carolina on Feb. 8 in a game televised on RSN/Fox.

The Hokies finished last season 14-16 with wins over Florida, North Carolina and another NCAA team Michigan State.

Tech will open the season on Nov. 14 at George Mason before returning home to host Maryland-Eastern Shore and Norfolk State. The Hokies will play their first ACC game of the season on Jan. 2 at Clemson and will host Virginia on Jan. 4 in the ACC home opener.
