Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG, Va. - Competing for Team USA at the IAAF World Junior Campionships hosted by the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore., rising sophomore Patrick Joseph finished fifth overall in his heat of the men's 1500-meter race.
Joseph finished his race with a time of 3:49.00, just 0.36 seconds away from earning an automatic qualifying spot to the final race. The Leesburg, Va., native bested his USATF Championship winning time of 3:49.76.
The tech middle-distance runner was the only Hokie to qualify for the IAAF World Junior Championships this season.
