BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women’s swimming and diving program heads to the 2013 ACC Swimming and diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The H2Okies are in search for their first ACC title, since joining the conference in 2004.
COMING OFF A FOURTH-PLACE SHOWING
Last season, Virginia Tech recorded its best finish at the ACC Championships since 2009, finishing fourth. The H2Okie women broke seven school records en route to bringing in seven All-ACC performances.
Diver Kaylea Arnett won the ACC Women’s Diver of the Year award and the ACC’s Most Valuable Diver. As a freshman, she won the 1-meter event, becoming the first Virginia Tech female diver ACC champion.
Heather Savage had a record-breaking performance for the H2Okies at the 2012 ACC Championships. She shocked the venue when she won the 100 butterfly, breaking all four event records (ACC Championship, Conference, School and Pool). For her performance all season, Savage was named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
