KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The awards continue to come in for senior goalkeeper Kyle Renfro as he was tabbed an All-South Atlantic Region second team member as announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday afternoon.
“These awards that have been coming in for Kyle show the type of player he truly is. We’ve always known he has been one of the best keepers in our area and I’m glad that other coaches in our region and throughout the nation are starting to notice it as well,” explained head coach Mike Brizendine.
The honor comes on the heels of a First Team All-ACC nod. Renfro has led the ACC in saves the past three seasons and has had a storied career since arriving at Tech in 2010. Since his freshman year, the senior has started and played in 63 games and has earned 14 shutouts. The Forest, Va., native also ranks third in career saves and third in career shutouts.
Renfro made 88 saves this season including a career high 10 saves on two occasions this year in ties against then-No. 16 Clemson and then-No. 19 Virginia. He also made nine saves in a loss to then-No. 5 Maryland. He has also saved two penalty kicks this season.
“Kyle has a bright future ahead of him and I can’t wait to continue to watch him progress as a person and as a player,” concluded Brizendine.
