CARY, N.C. – Virginia Tech’s No. 25 Luka Somen claimed the white flight singles title and paired with Corrado Degl’ Incerti Tocci for the flight A doubles title on the final day of competition at the Duke Nike Fab Four Invitational.
Somen defeated Duke’s No. 93 Fred Saba in the finals with straight set scores of 7-5, 6-3.
The No. 27 Tech pair of Somen and Tocci teamed up in the flight A doubles, defeating UNC’s duo of Joey Burkhardt and Oystein Steiro, 8-6 in the finals.
In the black flight singles, Hunter Koontz secured a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Kentucky’s Macks Gold in the consolation bracket.
The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will split time, Sept. 23-25 with part of the team traveling to the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga. The Hokies will also compete at the UVA-Ranked Plus One in Charlottesville, Va.
