Hokie ClubWILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech senior women’s tennis player, Martha Blakely advanced on Wednesday to the doubles main draw round of eight at the Williamsburg ITF Circuit.
Blakely teamed up with Eva Raszkiewicz for doubles at the tournament. The pair defeated Jessica Lawrence and Deborah Suarez with scores of 7-5, 6-2.
In the next round, Blakely and Raszkiewicz will face Sylvia Kosakowski and Cristina-Madalina Stancu. Kosakowski has ranked as high as 872 in doubles while Stancu has a career-high ranking of 513; the pair is seeded No. 2 at the event.
Tournament play will continue on Thursday.
