BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team earned Academic Squad honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association, as announced on Friday morning. Tech was one of 40 schools to be honored by the coaches’ association, as it recognizes Division I teams with a team GPA higher than 3.0 during the 2010 season.
The IWLCA also honored Hofstra, Stanford and Duke as Merit Squads, commending each school for posting the highest GPAs among Division I programs during the 2010 season. Hofstra topped all schools with a 3.492 team GPA, while Stanford (3.477) just edged Duke (3.471) to rank second.
Junior Allie Emala and sophomore Jessica Nonn were honored for their academic performance earlier this year as both players were named to the ACC All-Academic team.
