Bailey set to tee off in NCAA Championship

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – Virginia Tech golfer Marshall Bailey will tee off at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday morning from the 10th tee, as he begins play in the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is the host of the event.

Bailey, a junior from Fincastle, Virginia, qualified for the event by defeating Michigan’s Matt Thompson in a playoff at the NCAA Central Regional in Notre Dame, Indiana on May 22. Bailey was the low individual on a non-advancing team at the regional. He will be one of six individuals at The Honors Course, joining the players from the 30 advancing teams.

The participants will play 54 holes of stroke play to determine the individual champion and the eight teams that will advance to the championship round. Bailey will tee off at 2:05 p.m. from the first tee on Wednesday and will then be regrouped for Thursday’s third round. He will be grouped with Rhys Enoch of East Tennessee State and Robbie Fillmore of Brigham Young in the first two rounds. The players played a practice round at The Honors Course on Monday.
