FARMVILLE, Va. -- Virginia Tech guards Malcolm Delaney and Dorenzo Hudson have been named to the 2010 University Division All-State Men’s Basketball Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID).
Delaney, a junior from Baltimore, Md., was named to the first team. He led the Hokies and the ACC in scoring this season, at 20.4 points per game. He was a unanimous selection to the All-ACC first team. Last month, he was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press, was selected a fourth-team All-American by Sporting News and was named to the all-district teams by the NABC and the USBWA. Delaney was a second-team VaSID selection last season as a sophomore.
Hudson, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., was selected to the third team by VaSID. He was also a third team All-ACC choice this season, after finishing second on the team in scoring. He was, statistically, the most improved offensive player in the ACC in 2010, improving his scoring average by 10.6 ppg between his sophomore and junior seasons.
The major award winners by VaSID are Tony Shaver of William & Mary, who was named Coach of the Year, Art Parakhouski of Radford, who was named the Player of the Year and Evan Gordon of Liberty, who was named the Rookie of the Year.
