BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney has been named an honorable mention to the 2010 AP All-America team, as selected by the Associated Press.
Delaney, a junior from Baltimore, Md., led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring in 2010 and was a unanimous selection to the All-ACC first team. Earlier this month, he was selected a fourth team All-American by Sporting News and was named to the all-district teams by the NABC and the USBWA.
He led the Hokies in scoring and assists this season, as Virginia Tech finished the season with a 25-9 overall record. Tech finished tied for third in the ACC and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT.
Delaney is the first Virginia Tech player to earn AP All-America honors since Zabian Dowdell was named an honorable mention AP All-America selection in 2007. He is one of five ACC players named to the teams this season.
