SAAC and Hokies United teaming up to aide in Haiti Relief Effort

BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech Athletics Department, as well as the student body at Virginia Tech, are working collaboratively to raise funds in an effort to help those in need following the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), along with members of the Hokies United campaign, will collect monetary donations at the men’s basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 4 against North Carolina. This effort has been endorsed by the University’s Central Administration and is based on a similar project that took place following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The funds raised will be donated to Partners in Health. Donations will be collected just outside the doors prior to the men’s basketball game. Look for student-athlete volunteers with Hokies United buckets and join the effort to help earthquake victims in Haiti by making a cash donation. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
