Virginia Tech associate head golf coach Brian Sharp washonored at the Golf Coaches Association of America’s national convention lastweek at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.
Sharp was honored for being the assistant coach on thevictorious 2010 Team USA, which defeated Europe in the Palmer Cup, 13-11 atRoyal Port Rush in Northern Ireland in June. US head coach Chris Zambri wasalso honored.
Sharp earned the right to be the assistant coach by winningthe 2009 Jan Strickland Award Presented by TaylorMade-Adidas to the AssistantCoach of the Year, as selected by the GCAA. The Strickland Award is given tothe NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA assistant coach that, among other things,has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and inthe classroom. He received the Strickland Award at last year’s GCAA nationalconvention.
