The Virginia Tech Athletics Department has announced that Virginia Tech students will be admitted free of charge to the men’s and women’s basketball games on Sunday, Dec. 5, until all seats are occupied. Tip-off for the women’s game is at 2 p.m., as the Hokies will battle Winthrop and the men’s ACC opener against Virginia will begin at 6 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. This change has been implemented due to the inclement weather that has hit the New River Valley.
The arena will be cleared at the end of the women’s game. Students will then be re-admitted for the men’s game.
Students with a ticket for the men’s game will be admitted first. Students without a ticket for the game should gather on the East side of Cassell Coliseum and will be admitted on a space available basis. Students without a ticket presenting a valid student ID will be placed into open seats in the student section and then be allowed to take seats in the reserved ticket section. If a student occupies a seat of a season ticket holder, the student will be asked to move to an unoccupied seat. For those students who will occupy seats in the season-ticket section, the athletics department asks that fans be courteous to those who have purchased season-tickets, therefore, standing will not be allowed during the duration of the game.
The athletics department reminds all fans to proceed with care to and from the game.
