GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week following his outstanding performance this past week at the 76 Classic. This marks the third time that Delaney has been selected for this award by a panel of media members from throughout the ACC region.
In earning ACC Player of the Week, Delaney averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 assists on the week and shot .545 from the field as Virginia Tech went 2-1. The senior from Baltimore, Md., opened the week scoring 17 points to go along with seven assists in a 72-56 win over Cal State Northridge. The following evening, he tallied 16 points, making 10-of-11 free throws, to rally the Hokies to a 56-51 win over previously-unbeaten Oklahoma State. On Sunday, Delaney scored a game-high 30 points on 9-of-14 from the floor, including a career-high 7-of-9 from behind the arc in a 71-59 loss to UNLV.
The Hokies return to action on Wednesday night, as they host #22/18 Purdue in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The game will be played in Cassell Coliseum and will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
