Seth Greenberg to address Congress

BLACKBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg will address the United States Congress on Tuesday, Sept. 28 as part of a group pushing for increased funding for cancer research.

Greenberg will join fellow coaches Dave Rose of BYU, Steve Donohue of Boston College and Bruce Weber of Illinois as part of the American Cancer Society’s effort to help in the battle against cancer.

“I am honored to be selected as one of the coaches to address Congress regarding their continued support in the fight against cancer,” Greenberg said. “Cancer is a disease that has effected all of us. It’s very personal to me, in that, not only did I lose my father to cancer, but also one of our former players, Allen Calloway, at the tender age of 25. It’s important that we keep this fight against cancer in the forefront, as the progress that is being made is extraordinary. Dave Rose, the head coach at BYU, is one of the coaches joining me and he is a living example of why we need to continue to fund and support the American Cancer Society and Cancer Action Network’s work, as he survived his battle versus cancer last year and is back on the sidelines coaching.”
