Tech track and field teams and cross country teams to hold Shoe Drive

   The Tech cross country and trackand field teams are conducting their third annual Shoe Drive on Saturday, Sept.25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum.

The teams are accepting gentlyworn or worn out shoes. These shoes will be given to Soles4Souls, Inc., andNike’s Reuse-A-Shoe Program. Soles4Souls provides free shoes to people in needthroughout the world, while Nike breaks down each shoe, grinding down the partsand using them to make running tracks, padding for basketball courts andsurfaces for tennis courts.

Also, $1 donations can be made atthis event. This will help cover shipping costs.

A year ago, the track and fieldand cross country teams collected 447 pairs of shoes.
