Ricks runs at Junior Pan American Championships

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and TobagoRising Sophomore Keith Ricks narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in the men’s 200-meter dash at the 2009 Junior Pan American Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday.

Ricks clocked a 21.49 in the prelims of the men’s 200-meters to take ninth, seven-hundreths off the eighth-place finisher’s pace. The top eight in the prelims advanced to the finals of the event at the prestigious international meet made up of athletes from all around North America, South America and the Caribbean.

The Suffolk, Va., native finished second in the event at the USA Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 27. Ricks clocked a 21.18 to earn a spot to represent America at the Junior Pan American Championships.
