Virginia Tech incoming freshman David Wilson was named MVP of the IFAF Junior World Football Championship after helping to lead the USA to the gold medal Sunday with a 41-3 win over top-seeded Canada.
Wilson led the rushing attack Sunday with 87 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. For the three-game tournament, the Danville native rushed 33 times for 425 yards and nine touchdowns.
Fellow incoming freshman Tariq Edwards had two tackles Sunday, including an 18-yard sack.
Both players are expected to enroll for Summer II classes Tuesday at Virginia Tech.
