Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech cross country squads will host three home meets during the 2009 season, and compete in at least four more, as Tech announced the 2009 schedule on Thursday.
The Hokies open the season with the Virginia Tech Cross Country Relays at the Tech Cross Country Course on Sept. 4. This is the second consecutive season the Hokies have opened the season with the relay race.
Tech will also host the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational on Sept. 18 and the Hokie Open Race on Nov. 6. The squads will also travel to two meets before the ACC Championships, heading to Boone N.C., for the Highland Duel on Oct. 2, and the Chile Pepper Invitational on Oct. 17.The conference meet will take place in Cary, N.C., on Oct. 21.
Louisville, Ky., is the site of the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, set for Nov. 14. Both Hokie squads will try to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, where the women’s team has had at least one runner compete in the past three seasons. The national meet runs on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
