Shaban named CPL All-Star and HR Derby participant

Virginia Tech rising sophomore Ronnie Shaban has been named to the National team for the upcoming Coastal Plain League All-Star Game, which will take place in Wilmington, N.C., on July 21.

Shaban, who will start the game at shortstop, is spending his summer with the Petersburg Generals. Through July 15, Shaban had played in 36 games and was among the league leaders in batting average (.328), doubles (9), home runs (6) and runs batted in (29). He was the Generals’ leader in all four categories.

Shaban will also take part in the CPL All-Star Home Run Derby, which will be held the night before the game, July 20.
