Thorns to transfer

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech athletics department has announced that men's basketball player Hank Thorns has been released from his scholarship and intends to transfer.

Thorns, a sophomore guard from Las Vegas, Nev., appeared in 65 games at Virginia Tech, starting 15 times. He averaged 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for his career.

“Hank has been a tremendous asset to the program,” head coach Seth Greenberg said. “We appreciate all he has done on and off the court as a student, a leader and as a teammate. We wish him well in all his future endeavors.”

“My two years at Virginia Tech have been a great experience,” Thorns said. “I appreciate everything that Coach Greenberg and the coaching staff have done for me. I want to find a situation that will allow me to have a greater role. I will miss Virginia Tech and all of my teammates.”
