BLACKSBURG, VA. - The Virginia Tech track and field squads opened the season ranked fourth on the women’s side and 29th on the men’s, as the USTFCCCA released its first rankings of the season.
The Tech women are the highest-ranked ACC squad and the top-ranked team from the NCAA East Region on the list. Texas A&M tops the women’s list, followed by Oregon and LSU in second and third, respectively. Tennessee sits in fifth, followed by Arizona State, Penn State, UCLA, USC and Baylor rounding out the top ten.
On the men’s side, the Hokies sit in 29th and are the second-highest ranked ACC team in the country behind Florida State, who resides in fifth. Oregon leads the men’s list, followed by Texas A&M in second and Arkansas and Florida in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Hokies will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Sea Ray Relays on Friday and Saturday, Tech’s last tune up before the ACC Outdoor Championships in two weeks. Results will be available on hokiesports.com following each day.
