Pryor wins ACC Performer of the Week

BLACKSBURG, Va. Senior thrower Brittany Pryor earned co-ACC Women's Track and Field Performer of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday, marking the second time a women's Hokie track and field athlete has captured the accolade this year.

Pryor became the first Hokie to regionally qualify this outdoor season, tossing a 184-03 to win the hammer throw at the Weems Baskins Relays, in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday. The Niagara Falls, N.Y., native outdistanced the runner-up finisher in the event by over 20 feet, and surpassed the regional standard by over six feet.

Pryor shared the award with Angelina Blackmon an 800-meter runner from NC State. Junior Queen Harrison won the weekly conference honor during the indoor season on Feb. 3, after an automatic-qualifying performance in the 60-meter hurdles at the Penn State National Invitational in State College, Pa.

The Virginia Tech track and field squad returns to action this weekend at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va., the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. Results will be available on hokiesports.com following the meet.
