BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech cross country seniors Jessica Fanning and Erin Reddan were named to the women’s cross country Academic All-ACC squad, as announced by the conference.
Fanning, an architecture major, adds the academic accolade to her impressive resume. The Charlottesville, Va., native received academic all-conference and was named to the USTFCCCA all-academic team in 2007. Fanning finished 50th overall at the 2008 NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 15, after taking 34th at the ACC Championships two weeks earlier.
Reddan, a human nutrition, foods and exercise major, garnered all-region honors for the first time in her career at the regional meet this past season with a 20th-place finish for the Hokies. The Bricktown, N.J., native was the second Tech runner across the line at the regional meet and the ACC Championships, where she placed 21st, her highest finish at a conference meet.
To be eligible for consideration for the ACC all-academic squad, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
