BLACKSBURG, Va. – After receiving a bid to compete in the mile run at the NCAA Track and Field Championships yesterday, senior Natalie Sherbak was added to the 3,000-meter run field as well, the NCAA announced on Tuesday.
Sherbak ran a 9:18.02 in the 3,000-meters at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet on Feb. 6 to provisionally qualify. The Kellam High standout will compete in the mile preliminaries at 4 p.m., on Friday, and in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday at 6:40 p.m.
On the men’s side, freshmen Keith Ricks and Will Mulherin will be the alternates for the men’s distance medley relay squad. The squad, consisting of sophomore Eddie Judge, freshman Nick Vaughn, sophomore Ryan Witt and senior Billy Berlin clocked a school-record 9:30.24 on March 6 at the Alex Wilson Invitational to automatically earn a berth in the NCAA meet.
The NCAA Track and Field Championships will begin on Friday and wrap up on Saturday evening in College Station, Texas. Results will be available on hokiesports.com following the meet.
