COLUMBUS, Ga. -
Due to heavy rains and tornadic activity in the Columbus area, the Virginia Tech softball team has elected to head back to Blacksburg, leaving the 14th Annual NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. Several inches of rain fell overnight and in the morning and snow was forecast for the route home, so Tech will head home and not play its final three games. Several other teams have also left while several have elected to stay and try to get at least a game in Saturday or Sunday.
The Hokies (5-10) will be back in action next weekend in Clearwater, Fla., for the start of their Spring Break trip.
