Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s basketball teams are preparing to tip off the 2009-10 campaign and they will be serving as the hosts for "Late Night with the Hokies," presented by US Cellular and the University Bookstore, on Friday, Oct. 16, following the volleyball match against ACC foe Georgia Tech.
The festivities will commence in Cassell Coliseum at approximately 9 p.m. and last approximately an hour. All fans are invited to attend and admission is free. The first 3,000 fans will receive a special "Late Night with the Hokies" t-shirt. Coupons for t-shirts will be given out at the promotions booth in the concourse of Cassell Coliseum beginning at intermission of the volleyball match, which begins at 7 p.m.
Along with introductions of each team, this year’s lineup of activities includes many entertaining acts and skits by members of both teams, including a Dancing with the Stars competition and Evolution of Dance featuring the HokieBird. This year, there will also be an Imitation Dunk Competition matching kids versus the Hokies, a 3-point shooting contest and the men’s and women’s 2-on-2 competition. One lucky student will also have a chance to make a halfcourt shot to win Free Books for a Year. The men will conclude the night with an intra-squad scrimmage lasting approximately 10 minutes.
