BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Director’s (VaSID) selected freshman Erin Leaser as the Rookie of the Year, and named sophomore Felicia Willoughby and Leaser to the 2008 Women’s Volleyball All-State University Division teams, adding two more accolades to the duo’s impressive 2008 season.
Leaser, an Allentown, Pa., native, received the Rookie of the Year Award and a spot on the all-state second team. Leaser helped lead Tech to a 20-11 season, that included a school-record-tying 11 match win streak. The Allentown Central Catholic alum earned a spot on the All-ACC freshman squad for her efforts.
Willoughby, who earned honorable mention All-America honors this season, was selected first-team all-state. The Pleasanton, Calif., native has collected several honors for her 2008 campaign, earning first-team all-ACC and All-AVCA East Region recognition. Willoughby broke the school’s season hitting percentage mark this season, striking at a .402 clip, and led the team in kills, with 326, and blocks, with 117.
