Washington finishes 13th in semis at U.S. Championships

EUGENE, Ore. Rising senior Asia Washington ran a 59.35 in the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles in the second day of the U.S. Track and Field Championships on Friday in Eugene, Ore.

The Piscataway, N.J., native clocked the 13th-fastest time in the field, but failed to move onto Saturday’s finals in the race. The top eight times advanced to the finals in the event. Washington ran a 57.85 in the prelims yesterday to qualify for the semifinals.

Rising sophomore Keith Ricks will compete in the junior section of the men’s 200-meter dash tomorrow at 2:40 p.m., while senior Kristi Castlin will compete in the women’s 100-meter hurdles tomorrow at 6:55 p.m. Former Hokie Brian Mondschein will compete in the men’s pole vault, scheduled for 5:55 p.m. Results will be available on hokiesports.com.
