BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse senior midfielder Rachel Culp (Kent, Ohio) has been named Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week after tallying 13 goals and three assists combined against Davidson and Boston College in the past week.
Culp becomes the first Hokie to win the honor as Virginia Tech has rattled off four consecutive wins thanks in part to her play on the field. Culp set new personal bests with seven goals and nine points in a 20-5 victory against Davidson last Tuesday. The ensuing Saturday, the senior scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals, while leading all scorers with six goals and an assist in a 16-14 overtime win against Boston College, the Hokies' first-ever ACC victory.
Tech's leading scorer has netted six goals or more in each of the last three matches and during the Hokies' current four-game win streak, she has registered 23 goals and five assists.
The Hokies return to action against Duke University on Wednesday, Mar. 18, at 5 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
