KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –The Virginia Tech H2Okies finished the second day at the NCAA Zone B Qualifier. The men competed in the 3-meter event and the women took part in the 1-meter dive. Junior Mikey McDonald solidified a position for the men's NCAA Championships after placing fifth for the second time this weekend.
After the preliminary round in the 3-meter, McDonald held the fifth slot with a score of 360.70. The junior placed fifth in the 3-meter dive, with a score of 742.45.
Sophomore Daniel Martin finished in 35th place after the preliminary round. The sophomore posted a score of 268.65. In his first time competing at the Qualifier, freshman Trevor Michalak scored 236.40 points in the event.
In the women’s 1-meter, Sarah Milton led the way for the H2Okie women divers. Milton tallied a 34th-place finish with a score of 217.35. Redshirt freshman Natalie West competed in her first Qualifier, touched in with a 197.90 showing.
The final day of action at the NCAA Zone B Qualifier will take place tomorrow. Both the men and women will compete in the platform event. Action begins at noon. Follow the action live on www.divemeets.com.
