Jurrian van der Vaart, who was a third team All-America selection on Friday, played in the St. Andrews Links Trophy tournament over the weekend at the Old Course at St. Andrews. The Hokie golfer, who recently completed his intercollegiate career by tying for ninth at the NCAA Championship, made the 36-hole cut at St. Andrews with a 73-72. In the 36-hole final, he shot 70-72 for a one-under-par 287 and finished seventh, four strokes behind Keir McNicoll of Scotland.
Rising sophomore Marshall Bailey won the 35th Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame men’s championship on Sunday, defeating JMU’s Fielding Brewster when he birdied the first playoff hole. He finished with a three-day total of even-par 214.
