BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech wrestling team heads to College Park, Md., for the 2008 ACC Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Maryland all day Saturday at the Comcast Center.
Sixty wrestlers will be competing for 14 spots at the NCAA Championships, March 20-22 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Preseeds for each of the 10 brackets, plus the matchups, are expected to be announced Friday.
Doors open at 11 a.m., and tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth. The first round begins at Noon, followed by the semifinals at 2 p.m. The semifinal consolations start at 4:30, the consolation finals begin at 6 and the finals are slated to begin at 8 o'clock.
The ten winners of their respective weight classes will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships. On Sunday morning, the six head coaches will meet to select the four wild card selections to represent the conference.
