BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech wrestling team will wrap up regular season competition Sunday, hosting 19th-ranked Old Dominion at 2 p.m., at Cassell Coliseum. ODU will enter the match with a 16-3 record while the Hokies are 7-8.
Even though it's the final home match of the season, there won't be any senior ceremony as there are no seniors on the roster. Six projected starters for Sunday are true freshmen and Justin Staylor is the most-senior member of the squad as a redshirt junior.
In the Hokies' last match, the six freshmen all won their bouts as the Hokies beat Duke, 22-18.
Tech and Old Dominion met earlier this year with the Monarchs taking a 30-3 victory at the Virginia Duals. Only David Marone won, beating Andy Totusek at heavyweight in the final bout to prevent the shutout.
Tech is expected to be without the services once again of three starters - Matt Epperly, Eric Decker and Kevin O'Connor - due to injuries, but all three could be back for the ACC Championships in March.
