ACC updates 2008-09 men's basketball schedule

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced updated times and television information for the 2008-09 men’s basketball season, including changes to the Virginia Tech schedule.

With the updated information, the Hokies will now have all 16 regular season ACC games televised for the first time in school history. Last season, 15 of the 16 games were televised. All games in the ACC Tournament will be televised by either Raycom, ESPN or ESPN2.

Virginia Tech’s home game against Mt. St. Mary’s on Nov. 17, originally set for a 7 p.m. tip-off, has been moved to 8 p.m., to accomodate broadcast on Comcast SportsNet. The Virginia Tech game at defending SEC champion Georgia is now listed as a regional sports network contest, as the New England Sports Netwprk (NESN) has been added to the line-up, along with Fox Sports Net South, Fox Sports Net Florida and Comcast SportsNet.

Two Virginia Tech conference games have had game times and television set. The home game against Boston College on Jan. 17 is now set for a 4 p.m. tip-off and will be televised on ESPNU. Also, the home game on Feb. 11 against Georgia Tech will begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU.

The Hokies open the 2008-09 season at home against Gardner-Webb on Friday, Nov. 14. The ACC season will begin on Jan. 4 at Duke at 7:45 p.m. in a nationally televised game on Fox Sports Net.

The Hokies will have at least 23 regular season games televised. Game times and television information on the Hokies’ game against Navy in the BB&T Classic and for Tech’s games in the Aeropostale Holiday Classic at Madison Square Garden have not been confirmed.
