Hokie ClubGREENSBORO, N.C. - Three members of the Virginia Tech men's tennis team were selected to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Tennis Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Pedro Graber (So., Santiago, Chile), Sebastien Jacques (Fr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) and Ignaci Roca (Sr., San Jose, Costa Rica) were all named to the elite academic squad. Graber was named to the team for the second consecutive year.
On the court, Jacques led the Hokies with a 29-10 record including a 8-3worksheet in ACC contest while Graber posted 12 singles victories. Roca battled through injuries during his senior season and appeared in only four singles matches.
Duke leads all ACC schools with four All-Academic team selections. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech each placed three student-athletes on the squad.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. This year's team included seven repeat honorees from 2007 and one three-time honoree in Duke's Kiril Dimitrov.
