Hokie ClubVirginia Tech pitcher Angela Tincher left Monday morning for Chula Vista, Calif., for the U.S. Olympic tryouts, to be held Tuesday through Friday of this week. This will be the third trip to the Olympic Softball Training Center for the senior from Eagle Rock, Va. She went to California in 2006 for the World University Games tryouts and then again this summer for the Pan Am Games tryouts.
Tincher will be looking to make the U.S. Olympic Softball team, which will compete in Beijing next summer in the 2008 Olympics. The committee will choose 15 players, plus three alternates, for the team. Should Tincher make the team, she would miss the Hokies' 2008 season and would have to take an Olympic redshirt and return for the 2009 season.
